Roof rats in the attic? Norway rats under the house? We remove rats from Waxahachie homes completely — then seal how they got in so they can't come back.
Two species cause nearly all rat problems in North Texas, and they behave very differently — which is why identifying the species matters:
Sleek, dark, excellent climbers. Roof rats travel along tree branches, fences, and utility lines to reach your roof, then enter through rooflines, vents, and gaps around the eaves. They nest in attics and wall voids. If you're hearing scratching above you at night, roof rats are the likely culprit — they're the most common rat in Texas homes.
Heavier, ground-dwelling burrowers. Norway rats enter at ground level — through gaps in foundations, under garage doors, and into crawl spaces. They nest in burrows, basements, and lower wall voids. Scratching sounds from below or at ground level point to Norway rats.
A few snap traps from the hardware store might catch one or two rats — but rats are cautious, intelligent, and quick to avoid new objects. More importantly, traps do nothing about the entry points. In our experience, most Waxahachie homes we service have had a rat problem for months before the homeowner calls, because the signs were easy to miss. Professional removal plus exclusion solves it in one complete job instead of a year of frustration.
